About

ABOUT US

Hello! We are the Foxes. We are passionate about movement and healthy lifestyle. When the opportunity presented itself, we felt inspired to create a family centered gym with fun and empowering activities for everyone.

We live in a sedentary world. Kids often do not get enough physical activity, and parents can feel that they have to choose between taking care of their own needs and taking care of their children's needs. When parents sacrifice the basic need of movement and exercise, it can cause physical and mental illness, which decreases their ability to take care of their kids. Young people not interested in traditional sports often opt for sedentary activities. Origins Family Fitness has developed a wide variety of classes and activities for kids and adults to participate in so there is something for everyone! Bring your family, have fun, get fit, and learn useful skills all at the same time!

Why Origins?

WHOLE BODY WORKOUT:

Rather than focusing in on one area, we have chosen a variety of activities that give you a full body workout and increase strength, mobility, balance, and control. These activities also facilitate mental and emotional growth. We feel that this is a more balanced way to get fit than traditional Western systems.

FUN & INTERESTING:

For some people, dragging themselves to the gym is a chore because it is simply not enjoyable. At Origins Family Fitness you can come and have fun together! You might forget that you're getting a workout, but you'll be stronger and more fit—mentally and physically—than you were before you came.

EDUCATIONAL:

You will not only get more physically fit, but there are a lot of life lessons embedded into learning a new discipline such as yoga or parkour. Education is important to us and it is one of the foundational principles of Origins. A few of lessons that come out are communication, setting healthy boundaries, creative and critical thinking, respect, awareness of self and others, problem solving, perseverance, dedication, etc.

SKILLS YOU CAN TAKE WITH YOU:

Along with life lessons, you will be learning physical skills that you can take with you and apply to your life in every day application. Could you climb over a wall quickly if you needed to? Could you defend yourself if you were attacked? Could you climb up to get the frisbee your kid threw into the tree?

BUILDS CONFIDENCE:

As kids and adults learn new things and push themselves to new levels of physical ability they develop a strong sense of confidence. Our curriculum is progressive in nature so that you can begin to see improvement quickly.

SAVE TIME:

Have you ever felt like a taxi service for all the activities that your kids are in? Not to mention you have to find a way to squeeze in a few minutes of exercise time for yourself. Save yourself time, stress, and gas money by going to the gym together!

BUILDS RELATIONSHIPS:

Not only will you save time by coming together, but you can build relationships as you learn new things and grow together. Learning together is one of the best ways families can grow closer to one another. This also gives you a built in community to share and give feedback to one another as you practice your new skills outside of the gym.

SAFETY FOCUSED:

Safety has been a top priority for us as we have worked to create a place where new skills can be learned. We want to offer an environment that allows you to push your limits a little bit, while still staying safe. The first step in this was to set up curricula that focus on basic skills and setting up a strong foundation before more advance physical feats are attempted. This is one of the top reasons people get hurt while trying new things such as parkour. They simply don't have a foundation for that kind of movement. The backflip looks fun, but if they don't have a good foundation, then they are likely to get injured. Also, many kids eventually figure out how to do things, but along the way they develop bad habits in form that eventually cause injury.

We have also invested in physical safety measures. We have installed 2" carpet-bonded foam throughout the gym, so there is no exposed concrete. This is the thickest available, and while the foam is dense enough that it doesn't decrease stability or bottom out, it is soft enough to buffer falls. Also, we have a plenty of crash mats in a variety of thicknesses that can be moved around and used where needed. Our (future) aerial silks beam is engineer-approved for industry standard dynamic weight loads, and the rigging will be professionally installed.
